I am fascinated by the objects that get thrown up by Brighton sea combined with those that get left behind by beach goers. Objects that come from far away, rubber from boats, rope, rusty relics meet forgotten like plastic bags, cigarette butts, bottle caps leftover from gatherings on the beach, leaving traces of human connection and movement. I bring these together in assemblage sculptures, using almost exclusively materials from the beach and inspired by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Man Ray and Mario Merz.
